Daniel Arnold: New York Life

Published alongside Daniel Arnold's eponymous exhibition at New York Life Gallery, New York Life is a record of the personalities that make the city equal parts bizarre, romantic, humorous, and miraculous. In Arnold's universe, there is no right moment, wrong moment, or perfect shot; there is only the impulse to load a new roll and take the next picture. While each image is an index of a particular place and time, the breadth and scope of Arnold's photographs form a composite image of city life today. In New York, Arnold has found an infinite muse.

 

Daniel Arnold (b. 1980, Madison, WI) is a photographer based in New York City. Arnold has had solo exhibitions at New York Life Gallery, New York, NY (2023) and Larrie, New York, NY (2022). He has participated in group exhibitions at Library180, New York, NY (2026); The Hole, New York, NY (2025); Anent Gallery, Mexico City, Mexico (2025); Webber Gallery, London, UK (2025); Abri Mars, New York, NY (2025); Market Gallery, New York, NY (2025); Webber Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2025); the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, Seoul, KR (2024). In 2025, Arnold participated in Paris Photo with Kominek Gallery. Arnold's photography appears regularly in publications including The New York Times, Vogue, and Interview, among others. Arnold's photography has been the subject of three monographs: You Are What You Do (2025: Loose Joints), New York Life (2023: New York Life Gallery), and Pickpocket (2022: Elara Press).
