Leo (“Lior”) Roth (b. 1914, Austria-Hungary – d. 2002, Afikim, IL) was an Israeli painter known for his Cubist compositions. Roth developed his craft studying fresco painting in Florence and mural painting at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris before moving to Israel. After arriving in Tel Aviv, he moved to Kvutzat Kinneret, where he worked as a shepherd and farmer, and finally to Kibbutz Afikim, where he taught painting to his community and directed arts programming. Roth’s works are held in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, IL; Tel Aviv Art Museum, Tel Aviv, IL; Mishkan Museum of Art, Ein Harod, IL; State University of New York, Fredonia, NY.
