Serge Czerefkow Grès (1899, Kiev, UA – 1970, Tahiti, PF) was a Russian-born artist who trained at the School of Fine Arts in Kiev. Upon completing his studies, he moved to Paris in 1924 where he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. Grès eventually married a famous fashion designer, Mdme. Grès, whose haute couture was worn by the likes of Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy. Grès spent the last forty years of his life in Polynesia, where he painted portraits and landscapes depicting life in Tahiti.
